A seminar titled “Truth Beyond Borders: Combating Fake News in Conflict Situations”, here today in Islamabad.

The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, through its External Publicity Wing, in collaboration with the Defence & Strategic Studies Department of Quaid-i-Azam University and the Institute of Regional Studies, Islamabad, organized a seminar titled “Truth Beyond Borders: Combating Fake News in Conflict Situations”, here today in Islamabad. Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar; Executive Director General of External Publicity Wing Raeesa Adil; Ambassador Jauhar Saleem, President, Institute of Regional Studies (IRS); Zafar Nawaz Jaspal, Vice Chancellor, Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) were among the key speakers who addressed the event, offering valuable insights on the evolving regional and global dynamics, along with other distinguished participants.

The event brought together policymakers, diplomats, academics, and media professionals to examine the growing threat of disinformation in conflict environments. Speakers highlighted that fake news and propaganda have become strategic tools influencing public perception and geopolitical outcomes, stressing the need for accuracy, responsible journalism, and institutional resilience. Discussions also underscored the human and societal impact of misinformation, including erosion of public trust and increased polarization. Participants called for enhanced media literacy and stronger policy frameworks to counter information disorder.

The seminar concluded with a consensus on the importance of global collaboration, credible narratives, and strengthened mechanisms to safeguard truth and information integrity in times of conflict.
