Asalamu alaikum / Peace be upon you,
Throughout the summer, we and many others have watching with horror as Israel continued to expand its settlements in the West Bank as a continuation of its genocidal foreign policy.
That’s why we’ve spent the entire summer with all of you from coast to coast, meeting with government officials and urging Canada to ban all imports and goods from illegal Israeli settlements.
Today, an important step was taken.
Global Affairs Canada and the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service just issued a major business advisory — officially warning all Canadian companies, including suppliers like Costco and Loblaws, warning them to end all trade with illegal Israeli settlements.
These companies just got put on notice: putting settlement products on your shelves is not okay.
We wish a message like this was sent earlier, years ago, but having it out means Canada is taking a much stronger stance.
This is because you did the work – years of work culminating in a summer of advocacy on this issue.
Still, much more needs to be done. An advisory is not a full ban. It is a start.
We need to keep pushing.
The next logical step, as we have noted time and again, is to push for a full and comprehensive ban on all products originating from Israeli settlements.
We need your support to make this happen. This battle will take more time, more resources.
Amid a genocide and an aggressive campaign by the Israeli government to expand settlements, we can build together to make sure that Palestinian human rights truly fulfilled.
To get there, we need you to become a monthly donor at $50/month. Help our team and community pushing for a full and total ban on all settlement products.
Lead the way!
Wassalam
