Toronto, ON — The Liberal Party of Canada has announced that Tanveer Shahnawaz, a leader with a proven track record of service for his community, will be the Liberal candidate for Beaches—East York in the upcoming federal by-election.
“Tanveer Shahnawaz is a hard-working community leader who is ready to build a stronger, more prosperous future for Beaches—East York, and for all Canadians,” said Sachit Mehra, President of the Liberal Party of Canada. “In this important by-election, the people of Beaches—East York have the opportunity to elect a strong Liberal MP who will work with Mark Carney and our team in Parliament to bring down costs for families, create more opportunities for workers and small businesses, and build a more resilient economy.”
Tanveer Shahnawaz has deep roots in Beaches—East York and a proven record of service to his community. As constituency office manager for Liberal MP Nathaniel Erskine-Smith and co-chair of the Taylor-Massey & Oakridge Community Response Team, he understands what it means to show up for the community. A familiar presence across the riding, you’ll often find Tanveer volunteering at Crescent Town community fairs or distributing food with Community Centre 55 and Grant A.M.E. Church.
