Liberal Party of Canada welcomes three new MPs to help build Canada Strong

Ottawa, ON — Liberals congratulate Tanveer Shahnawaz, Daniel Gobeil, and Braeden Caley on their elections as Liberal Members of Parliament for Beaches–East York, Chicoutimi–Le Fjord, and North Vancouver–Capilano.

This is a decisive moment for our country, and Canadians are looking for strong leadership and a serious plan to stand up for our workers and industries and to build our strength at home.

Tanveer Shahnawaz, Daniel Gobeil, and Braeden Caley’s successful elections help ensure that Mark Carney and our Liberal government have a team in Parliament ready to build on our progress – protecting our communities and our sovereignty, empowering Canadians with lower costs, and building a stronger and more independent economy.

“Tonight’s results are a testament to the hard work of our candidates and volunteers, the strength of our party, and the growing support for Mark Carney’s plan to build Canada Strong,” said Sachit Mehra, President of the Liberal Party of Canada. “We’re excited to welcome Tanveer, Daniel, and Braeden as new Liberal MPs, and to keep building the strong team Canadians need to meet this moment.”

These results build on successful by-elections earlier this year in Scarborough Southwest, Terrebonne, and University—Rosedale, a record-breaking 2026 Liberal National Convention in Montréal, and the Liberal Party’s best-ever first quarter for fundraising outside an election year in 2026.

With three more strong voices joining the Liberal team in Parliament, Mark Carney and our Liberal government will continue to work collaboratively with all parties, with a relentless focus on getting big things done for Canadians.
